My Hero...

Epilepsy changed my life.  It wasn’t just restrictions, a new lifestyle or the stigma, but a change in the relationships that I had and was making.

Without the constant support I had around me I know my outlook would have been vastly different.  It was thanks to epilepsy that I met my hero.

My twin, Annlina , was with me the day we got the results back.  She sat with me, holding my hand, every time I woke up from yet another seizure.  She caught several buses to and from uni, just to come and paint my nails or to say hi while I was in hospital.  She made sure that I kept studying and got extensions, dropped off assignments or passed on lecture notes.  She gave up so much of herself, her time, her friendships, her freedom, just to make sure I never felt alone.

Yes epilepsy has been hard.  I would never wish it on anybody, but I’m thankful too, thankful because without it I would never have seen my hero.
